With a healthy careers outlook on the agenda, today’s Lunch & Learn gave our students a fantastic opportunity to meet alumnae Rianna Nicotera (Class of 2022) and Hannah Norrie (Class of 2019) — two former CCC students who have turned their passion for health and helping others into meaningful careers with OnePointHealth, right here in our local community! Rianna is currently a Dietitian Cadet, gaining hands-on experience supporting the administration and marketing teams while shadowing OnePoint Health’s dietetics specialists. Her role offers a rare insight into both the clinical and operational sides of healthcare. Hannah began her journey in OnePointHealth's Cadet Program and has since grown into a qualified Strength and Conditioning Coach. She now works both in-clinic and in the community, supporting athletes across Panthers Juniors, Nepean FC, and ERNA Netball with performance and injury prevention programs. Both Hannah and Rianna shared such practical and timely advice — from coping with unexpected changes in your career path, to putting your best effort into school, building networks that open doors, and taking confident first steps into life after Year 12. It was also wonderful to hear them speak about the supportive culture at OnePointHealth and the opportunities offered through their signature Cadet Program. And in a special full-circle moment, Hannah even had some of the gymnastics athletes she coaches in the audience! Thank you to Hannah and Rianna for your time today and also to OnePointHealth for another valuable opportunity to showcase Caroline Chisholm career success stories at your organisation.

What a Lunch & Learn it was today as we welcomed back Class of 2014 graduate, Bernadette Fam, who shared her creative career in the Australian theatre scene in front of a big audience of a different kind! Bernadette has worked with a range of leading theatre companies in Sydney and Melbourne, with her work powerfully exploring identity, belonging and cultural connection. She shared her early career journey with our students — including the bold choice not to take up her initial offer into Law, and instead follow her passion into the world of theatre. Since then, Bernadette has immersed herself in directing, dramaturgy, theatre-making and mentoring, carving out a dynamic and inspiring pathway in the independent theatre space. Her presentation explored the many pivots and possibilities within the arts and offered incredible advice for our students. One standout message: “If there’s something you want to do, there’s not just one pathway to get there — chase skills, not titles, and the opportunities will come to you.” For those passionate about drama, storytelling and the arts, this was truly one not to miss — and an exciting reminder of the diverse and fulfilling careers available in the creative industries.

On Wednesday 19 November, the CCC Lyrical Company were invited to perform at the Captivate Arts Festival which showcases dance works from schools across the diocese. Year 8 student Sophia R was also invited to perform a solo dance for which she received first place at the Arts Factor Dance Eisteddfod. Industry professional Zoey Black personally chose students from various schools to be a part of a work created specifically for the Festival. Although we had four students selected, Makenzie C (year 9) was the only one who could commit to the lengthy weekly rehearsals. She represented our College extremely well in this work. Congratulations girls!

We started with a surprise stop at Lindt, before Chelsea (IKEA Store Greeter) connected us with Erin Falconer (Head of Marketing and Communications IKEA ANZ). Yzzy and Nav, our year 10 students on term exchange in Japan have settled in wonderfully. Their host families have welcomed them like their own, with shared dinners, outings, and plenty of new foods to try, from takoyaki to ramen. At school, they’re enjoying homeroom traditions, clean-up time, delicious bento lunch boxes, and clubs like chorus, handbells, and badminton. They’ve made friends quickly and appreciate how respectful and supportive the Tokyo Junshin school community is. They’ve explored places like The Making of Harry Potter, Mt Fuji, and Inokashira Park Zoo, and are loving Japan’s quiet public transport, convenience stores, and daily routines. We’re proud of how positively they’re embracing every part of the experience. We will be welcoming 2 Japanese students from our sister school for 8 weeks in term 1 next year. We a looking for host families for them now. Hosting is a fabulous life experience filled with unforgettable memories.
