Congratulations to Sofia Fanucchi! On Tuesday Night, 19 August, Sofia Fanucchi was awarded the Victor Chang School Science Award, which recognises students for their tenacity, dedication, and passion for science. Established in 2004 in honour of pioneering cardiac surgeon Dr Victor Chang, these awards celebrate gifted students and aim to inspire growth in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). They encourage young people to explore STEM as an exciting and rewarding career pathway. We are incredibly proud of Sofia for this outstanding achievement and commend her commitment to science. On Friday, 15 August, we gathered as a college community to celebrate Mass at St. Padre Pio for the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. On this holy day of obligation, we honour Mary’s role as the Mother of God and the spiritual mother of the Church. We also turn to Mary in prayer, expressing our deep faith in God and our devotion to her as a model of discipleship and trust in God’s promises.

Taliesha is making a splash for Australians living with multiple sclerosis (MS) by taking on the MS Mega Challenge! This is a 24-hour team relay swim at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre starting at 12 noon on Saturday 30 August. MS strikes young people in the prime of their lives, the average age of diagnosis is only 30 years old and there is currently no known cure. Taliesha’s MS Mega Challenge is raising money for vital support and services, and fund the MS Go for Gold Scholarships to help people with MS realise a dream. Year 9 Become Campus Detectives! Our team of intrepid Year 9 investigators took on Kingswood for the first exciting chapter of the WSU Fast Forward Program — and they absolutely rose to the challenge! In a fast-paced simulated investigation, our students put their transferable skills to the test — problem-solving, communicating, collaborating, showing initiative and resilience — all while working as a united team to crack the case. Along the way, they explored the vibrant WSU learning environment, built their confidence, expanded their awareness of post-school opportunities, and embraced the value of being lifelong learners. A big thank you to Ana and the WSU Future Student Engagement team for hosting this innovative and inspiring start to the program. We can’t wait for the next chapters of this journey, with more campus visits and student coaching consultations still to come!
