Encore 2017

22 Mar 2017

Caroline Chisholm Catholic College Glenmore Park

21 Caroline Chisholm College students from Years 9 to 12 attended the annual Encore showcase in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House.

The Encore showcase features exemplary musical performances and compositions from the 2016 HSC practical examinations in Music 1, Music 2 and Music Extension.

Our students were captivated by the wide range of performances and performing media that was presented at the showcase, which was again hosted by John Foreman ( from the Channel 9 Melbourne Christmas Carols).

A highlight of the night was a vocal performance by a student from Santa Sabina College entitled, “Parramatta Road”. Thanks to Mrs Christine Lewis and Ms Sara Lemaire for attending and assisting students at this exciting event.

Mr Richard Caws – Music Teacher

Our inspirational Australian Catholic University VOYSE Social Enterprise Challenge team is about to hit a huge milestone – a high-profile community Showcase in front of 200 people this Wednesday at Blacktown’s Bowman Hall! This is more than just an event – it’s a chance for our incredible Year 10 students to: - present their innovative social enterprise ideas to community and industry leaders; - gain valuable feedback to strengthen their projects; and - be recognised for their achievements in the VOYSE program We are so impressed with these motivated and creative students who volunteered to take part this term. They’ve given up their own break times, worked to a demanding timeline and developed a socially responsible business concept that shines with entrepreneurial spirit and social awareness. This week, the team also had the privilege of receiving invaluable mentoring and feedback from: - Lucy Sattler – Founder of Study Work Grow (one of our College’s valued career partner organisations) - Adjoa Assan (ACU Blacktown Project Officer / Voice of Young Social Entrepreneurs) and community-focused, highly experienced entrepreneur, Vika Pinomi. A huge thank you to Lucy, Adjoa and Vika for your time, guidance, and inspiration – your support has given our students the confidence to take the stage and truly shine. We can’t wait for next Wednesday! Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese

The HSC Music Showcase is an annual event designed to celebrate and present the hard work, creativity, and talent of our Year 12 music students. As part of their HSC Music course, students are required to perform or present compositions that demonstrate their understanding of music performance, composition, and analysis. This showcase, held on Thursday 28 August, provided students with a valuable opportunity to perform their HSC repertoire in front of a live audience, offering a simulated examination environment and a platform to refine their pieces in preparation for their final practical exams. We are so proud of all of the girls and wish them luck for their upcoming practical exams. Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese

On Thursday, 28 August 2025, the Caroline Chisholm College U16 Nine-a-Side Rugby League team contested the grand final against St Columba’s College, Springwood. After a strong defensive start, Caroline Chisholm College scored the opening try to take a 6–0 lead. The advantage was short-lived, however, with St Columba’s equalising within minutes. Two well-constructed tries before the break saw Caroline Chisholm College regain momentum and head into halftime with an 18–6 lead. A quick score by the opposition narrowed the margin to eight and created some nervous moments as they pressed hard in attack. However, strong defence and disciplined play from Caroline Chisholm College held them out, before two late tries sealed the victory. The final whistle confirmed a well-deserved win for Caroline Chisholm College, capping off an outstanding season and a hard-fought grand final performance. Well done to the team for their commitment and effort throughout the season, and for finishing in style with a grand final win — a fantastic achievement for Caroline Chisholm College! Thank you to CSPD for their organisation and support in running the event, to all the competing teams — in particular St Columba’s, who pushed us in the grand final — and to our wonderful supporters throughout the season. Your encouragement and enthusiasm made this achievement even more special. Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese

On Tuesday, Gilmore House initiative 'Lollies for Luke' took place where Gilmore House sold lollies to their peers to raise money for the Luke Priddis Foundation. This charity supports children and adolescents with autism. It was a very successful event, with many lolly bags sold through prepay and on the day sales. Students are invited to continue to support this event this week by buying lolly bags as long as they are available to sell. Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese

This week Year 12 Ancient Class were involved in an interactive revision activity that highlighted key moments in the life of the personality they have studied, Agrippina the Younger. Her birth, marriage and prominence under her brother Caligula the emperor were all key moments represented, along with her exile, partnership with Claudius until his eventual death, culminating in her son Nero becoming emperor and eventually ordering her death. All are represented in the following scenes, with Agrippina the Younger being represented in each image wearing a white toga. Students took it in turns to represent this key figure of Ancient Roman history from the Julio-Claudian era.
