Our Year 10 students gathered at Mt Schoenstatt for their Formation Day this week.
On a cold and foggy day, we came together to reflect on our theme, “Walking in Their Shoes.” Throughout the day, students explored the meaning of empathy and the important role it plays in our everyday lives and relationships.
A special highlight of the day was Mrs McElroy sharing the story of her dad’s treasured boots — a powerful reminder that every person carries their own story, experiences, and journey.
Through pair work, small group discussions, and homeroom activities, students engaged in meaningful conversations and experiences centred on empathy, compassion, and service. We reflected on how our chosen charitable groups inspire us to put our faith into action and make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Despite the gloomy weather, there was plenty of warmth in the laughter, conversations, and shared moments over our picnic lunch.
We concluded the day with a beautiful and moving liturgy, leaving with a deeper understanding of empathy and a renewed commitment to walk alongside others with compassion, kindness, and faith.
