What a day we had at UTS (University of Technology Sydney)! Ten of our enthusiastic Year 9 and 10 students with big dreams for future STEM careers headed to the ACS Foundation Big Day In - and it did not disappoint! The event was officially opened by Steve Whan MP (Minister for Skills, TAFE and Tertiary Education) and featured a huge range of inspiring speakers and organisations showcasing technology-focused career pathways in an ever-changing digital world. Our students heard from an incredible lineup, including: - ADF (Australian Defence Force) - Adobe - Google - Westpac - Canstar - Microsoft - Australian Signals Directorate - Tata Consulting Services With so many insights and real-world experiences shared, there was plenty for our students to take away and reflect on as they consider their futures. During the breaks, students also had the chance to meet the speakers and explore a range of STEM-focused employers at an expo like no other - engaging, hands-on and full of possibilities! A massive thank you to Kerrie Bisaro and ACS (Australian Computer Society) plus everyone involved for inspiring the next generation of STEM innovators!

7Tech A stepped into the kitchen for their very first practical lesson preparing and presenting Fruit Salad. It was wonderful to see students confidently chopping, dicing and assembling their parfaits while working cooperatively in their bays. The final results were colourful, fresh and beautifully presented! A great beginning to our Farm Fresh to Frying Pan unit — we are already building strong kitchen skills and teamwork.

Last week, the students of 7Tech.E enjoyed making their fruit salads, topped with ice cream as part of their first practical lessons in the kitchen! As part of their introduction to the kitchens, the students demonstrated their understanding of work health and safety (WHS) requirements when working in the kitchens. They demonstrated safe knife skills, hygienic work practices and an understanding of seasonal produce. A fantastic start to developing their organisational and food preparation skills. Well done 7TECH!

We celebrate the wonderful public speaking efforts of girls from Year 7 to 12 who participated in the CSDA Public Speaking Competition in Week 5. Their speeches were insightful and thought provoking, and their speaking skills so impressive. Two students, Charlotte and Alyssa, were successful in Round 1 and move to the next round. Congratulations to all students and best wishes to Charlotte and Alyssa.

As we launch into our College's week-long celebration of International Women’s Day, nine of our Year 10 iSTEM students had the incredible opportunity to attend 'Girls Engineering the Skies', an aviation careers networking event where they took an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the brand-new Western Sydney International Airport, including a rare and fascinating tarmac visit. They met powerful female role models from QANTAS at the WSI Experience Centre who reminded us exactly what this week is all about — celebrating women, aspirations and possibility. Thanks to a wonderful partnership between Cool Aeronautics Australia and Western Sydney International Airport, our students took part in an inspiring panel discussion with five incredible women from QANTAS. They represented diverse fields - HR, Talent Acquisition, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautical Engineering - and shared their pathways, challenges and the lessons that shaped their careers. In the wide-ranging discussion, our students were encouraged to: say YES to opportunities, follow their passions, stay open-minded and step beyond their comfort zones. They even put their STEM skills to the test in an aeronautics challenge, designing their own aircraft combining design thinking principles with the forces of thrust and uplift - at the WSI Visitor Experience Centre, adjacent to the airport's main runway. A heartfelt thank you to Olga Hansen (Cool Aeronautics Australia), Asha Frost, and the dedicated team at WSI for making this unforgettable experience possible. Our students left inspired, empowered and one step closer to soaring into their own STEM futures! Keep an eye out for an exclusive video of the event from some of our students hitting socials later this week!

Our 7TECH A students have been busy preparing the foundations for our Farm Fresh to Frying Pan unit by getting their hands dirty in the garden! Students worked collaboratively to prepare the garden beds, learning about soil preparation, sustainable food production and the importance of growing fresh ingredients from the ground up. They demonstrated teamwork, responsibility and care for our school environment. A fantastic start to understanding where our food comes from before it even reaches the kitchen. Well done 7TECH A 👏🌾

Our Year 12 College Leadership Team recently attended LIFTED Leaders 2026, a diocesan leadership formation day hosted on behalf of Bishop Vincent Long. The girls strengthened their leadership skills, reflected on leading with faith and service and connected with student leaders from across the Blue Mountains and Western Sydney area, forming new friendships along the way.
