Today, a group of our Year 10 students headed to the Western Sydney University Kingswood campus for the latest instalment of the WSU Fast Forward Program - and what a fantastic day it was! From navigating a university campus and experiencing lectures and tutorials, to tackling engineering and design challenges with new friends, our students got a real taste of university life. Working collaboratively in teams, they explored how their interests, strengths and educational choices can help shape future career pathways. One of the most valuable messages from the day? Careers are rarely a straight line. They are evolving journeys filled with opportunities, discoveries and new directions. While students may not have all the answers just yet, today provided an important opportunity to start imagining what their futures could look like, and how they might get there. Students also learned about pathways into university, including scholarships, the True Reward Early Offer Program and other opportunities available through WSU. A huge thank you to Ana Setiu Tuala and the incredible WSU Fast Forward and Future Student Engagement Team for providing such an engaging, inspiring and hands-on experience for our students. We can't wait to see where these future pathways lead!

At Caroline Chisholm College, we are committed to helping students explore and develop their aspirations, broaden their horizons and plan confidently for the future. Today's Pathways Wellbeing Lessons saw students from every year group engage in future-focused learning and reflect on the exciting possibilities their careers may hold. Year 7 students completed their very first Careers Clusters Quiz, discovering how their interests and strengths connect to different career pathways. Years 8–11 explored how careers can be used as a force for good, investigating how future jobs can create positive change in local and global communities and inspiring them to become agents of change in the world around them. Meanwhile, our Year 12 students spent time refining their Post School Plans as they prepare for the exciting transition from school to their next chapter.

As part of our Move and Groove unit, students learnt the choreography to a chosen song before challenging themselves to create an additional 15 seconds of original choreography. They then combined their new moves with the existing routine to create a complete dance sequence. It was fantastic to see students actively engaged, stepping outside their comfort zones, working creatively, and having fun while developing their confidence, coordination, and teamwork skills. A number of students also showcased their routines by performing for the class, demonstrating great effort and enthusiasm. Well done, Year 8!

After two weeks of Thursday PDSSSC Representative Soccer being cancelled due to wet weather, both Caroline Chisholm teams finally took to the field for their opening matches of the season. The Junior and Intermediate teams were eager to begin their campaigns against Penola Catholic College. The Junior team delivered an outstanding performance in their first game together. Their defensive efforts were excellent throughout the first half, with much of the play taking place in Penola's half. The team worked cohesively, creating numerous scoring opportunities and maintaining strong pressure across the field. At full-time, Caroline Chisholm secured a convincing 3–0 victory over Penola Catholic College. Congratulations to our goal scorers, Zara (2) and Molly, and to all players for their teamwork, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship in a fantastic start to the season. Congratulations also to the Intermediate team, who battled hard to earn a 0–0 draw with Penola Catholic College in a highly competitive and entertaining match. Like the Junior team, this was the girls’ first game playing together as a team, and they showed great determination, resilience, and teamwork throughout. With such a strong foundation established, the team will continue to build combinations and confidence as the season progresses. Well done to all players on an excellent start to the PDSSSC Representative Soccer season. We look forward to seeing both teams continue to develop and achieve success throughout the season. Thank you also to the many parents, grandparents, sisters and friends who cheered the girls on from the sidelines.

Our Year 10 Food Technology classes recently put their skills to the test during a High Tea practical, working collaboratively in small teams to create a delicious selection of sweet and savoury treats. Focusing on delivering big flavours in petit, beautifully presented items, students demonstrated creativity, teamwork and attention to detail. This practical forms part of their Food Service and Catering unit, where students explore the planning, preparation and service of food for both small and large-scale functions.

Yesterday students had the opportunity to hear from Jessica Bristow (nee Fenech) (Class of 2012) who is now working as an Associate Solicitor, practising predominantly in Wills & Estates and Property Law. In our latest Lunch & Learn, Jessica shared her journey from school to the legal profession, highlighting how different interests, subject choices and study pathways can lead to a rewarding and diverse career in law. Students gained valuable insights into her day-to-day work as a solicitor, the types of clients and matters she works with, her university experience, and the steps she took to enter the profession. The session provided a fantastic opportunity for students to ask questions, hear first-hand industry experiences and develop a deeper understanding of the pathways and opportunities available within the legal sector. Jessica gave very honest and practical insights into her career journey - and responded to some fascinating questions from the audience, including how she manages 'imposter syndrome' and draws inspiration from those clients she has helped. In a thoughtful reflection, Jessica spoke about the lasting impact of the pastoral care she experienced at Caroline Chisholm College and how it helped shape her personal and professional journey. She also shared the value of her time at Western Sydney University, highlighting the inspiration she gained from being surrounded by motivated, like-minded peers. Jessica encouraged students to embrace lifelong learning, future-proof their careers by adapting to emerging technologies such as AI, and recognise the enduring importance of transferable skills, particularly communication, relationship-building and being people-focused. Thank you for haring your experience and wisdom with the many students who attended Jessica - it was wonderful to welcome you back to CCC!

Today our Year 10 students took confident steps towards their futures through 'My HSC Journey Begins' - an innovative program developed by the College, designed to support them as they prepare to choose their HSC patterns of study. A key message throughout the day was that the best HSC subjects are the ones that are the best fit for each individual student. In line with that theme, the program began with students exploring their strengths, skills and motivations before choosing from a series of mini-panel interviews featuring current Year 11 students, allowing them to engage with subject areas and pathways that interested them most. Sharing their own experiences from being in Year 10 just 12 months ago, our Year 11 students led by example, provided valuable insights into how their subject choices connect to future pathways and careers. They spoke about the realities of learning in Year 11, offered practical advice for selecting subjects, and reflected on the challenges, successes and lessons they have learned so far on their HSC journey. Students then further personalised their experience by selecting three presentations led by KLA Leaders and teaching staff, who showcased the range of elective subjects available, including VET and EVET, and highlighted the opportunities each course can provide. Under the theme “My Subjects, My Choices, My Future,” our Year 10s left with plenty to think about as they begin making important decisions about their senior studies. We thank the wonderful Year 11 student presenters, John Wills and our College staff for helping guide and inspire the next generation as they take the first steps on their own HSC journey.

Today, Caroline Chisholm College proudly celebrated the incredible talents of our students at the Creative Arts Assembly. We were privileged to experience outstanding performances from our Dance, Drama and Music students, whose creativity, passion and dedication truly inspired our college community. A special congratulations to our choir, whose breathtaking performance captured everyone’s hearts. The assembly was also an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the achievements of our finalists in Clay Gulgong, as well as acknowledge our School Captains for their exceptional leadership and commitment to our college. Today was a wonderful celebration of creativity, talent and achievement, and we are incredibly proud of all our students for sharing their gifts with our community.

Our Year 11 Exploring Early Childhood students recently participated in a range of fine motor skill activities designed for preschoolers, gaining valuable insight into how these experiences support early childhood development. Students enjoyed engaging in hands-on tasks such as threading, cutting, drawing and construction activities, while exploring how fine motor skills contribute to coordination, independence and concentration and building on content covered in class. It was a fun and meaningful learning experience that helped students better understand the importance of play-based learning in the early years.
