History came to life for our Year 11 Ancient History students as they took part in a range of interactive archaeology activities, including an archaeological dig in the Ag Plot. Working like real archaeologists, students carefully excavated, recorded and interpreted artefacts while considering a fascinating question: Are archaeologists treasure hunters or or are they guardians of our shared past? Through careful excavation, recording and interpretation, they discovered that archaeology is about far more than finding objects—it's about uncovering the stories of ancient societies, and what we can learn from these peoples of the past. Similarly with the Otzi site reconstruction, the visual reproduction clarified for students which theories surrounding Otzi were more likely to be valid. In both activities, students were engaged and enthusiastic in their participation.

Our 8TECHF Engineering students recently put their engineering skills to the ultimate test in the Egg Drop Challenge! Working through the design process, students designed, built and tested protective contraptions capable of keeping a raw egg intact when dropped from a height of 4.2 metres. Throughout the challenge, students applied key engineering principles by researching ideas, generating and evaluating design solutions, selecting appropriate materials, and refining their prototypes. It was fantastic to see the wide range of unique solutions developed, with some eggs surviving the impressive drop!

Students from 7.3 Geography took their Geography learning outdoors to develop their fieldwork skills by completing a geography sketch drawing of the local environment. They identified and labelled key natural and human features while applying the important map conventions of BOLTSS (Border, Orientation, Legend, Title, Scale and Source). This hands-on activity helped students strengthen their observation skills, accurately represent landscapes, and understand how geographers record and communicate information about places.

Our Year 8 students continue to put their faith into action through the Vinnies Van Sandwich Making Initiative. This initiative encourages students to embrace the values of Catholic Social Teaching by recognising the dignity of every person, standing in solidarity with those in need, and responding with compassion and generosity. A special thank you to our Year 8 volunteers for their commitment, teamwork and willingness to serve others. Your kindness helps bring hope and support to our wider community. #FaithInAction #VinniesVan #Year8Service
