Students at Caroline Chisholm College, Glenmore Park launched their radio show, Chit Chat recently, broadcasting their own program content live from the school’s studio.

The Chit Chat features news, entertainment and music with comical segments and local interviews designed to build a sense of community spirit at the College.

College Principal Mary Leask, said the live show runs for 20 minutes is presented by the students and the podcast is shared to students online.

‘The studio is very modest using basic software and technology but it provides a powerful learning experience for the students in media and communications,’ said Mary.

‘Students generate the content, select the playlist for the station, present the segments and write material for a target audience,’ she said. ‘We have also been very fortunate to have the generous support and industry expertise of one of our parents, Darren McErlain.’

Year 12 student Lauren Bozic said program highlights such as the secret sound competition to identify teacher’s footsteps and a tongue-in-cheek corridor traffic report makes great radio.

‘Our ideas are often concerned with local-based content for our College, with an entertaining spin,’ said Lauren.

‘This project has taught us the art of speaking clearly, creative writing for radio and the social responsibility in journalism of checking facts,’ she said.

The radio show is available as a podcast online.

Taylah (Year 12) is one step closer to her dreams of taking flight after stepping into the world of cabin crew careers with Qantas. Thanks to Georgie Dunstan and the Early Talent Team at Australia’s global airline, Taylah was immersed in what it truly takes to become a flight attendant from the moment this incredible and unique experience began. From exploring a realistic aircraft cabin setup - complete with passenger seating, service trolleys and authentic training equipment - to learning about the evolution of uniforms and onboard service, every moment brought the role of a cabin crew team member to life. A standout was the opportunity to connect with Sophie, a current flight attendant, who shared her personal journey and answered questions with honesty and insight. Taylah also took part in a collaborative group task, mirroring the recruitment process and showcasing the teamwork and communication skills needed to succeed in the industry - giving her a genuine taste of what future applicants can expect. The experience was elevated even further through virtual reality training, allowing Taylah to move through the entire aircraft - from flight deck to cabin - and interact with its features in real time. The immersion concluded with valuable conversations with recruitment team members, offering practical advice, clarity and real-world guidance on pathways into the industry. Opportunities like this don’t just inform - they inspire, ignite ambition and build confidence, enabling Taylah to envision her future and take one step closer to it. Our sincere thanks to Georgie, Kalinda Petrovski, and the Qantas team for generously providing such a wonderful experience for aspiring cabin crew.

Our Year 12 students recently attended their Social Day hosted by St Dominic’s College, enjoying a memorable experience filled with connection, laughter, and community. Throughout the day, students participated in a variety of engaging activities, including team-building games, trivia, and a shared pizza lunch, before enjoying some friendly competition in dodgeball and volleyball. It was wonderful to see students step away from their studies, strengthen friendships, and embrace this important stage of their schooling journey. The day was filled with energy and joy, with new friendships formed. Truly a highlight of the Year 12 experience.

Today we launched our Discover the UNIverse Lunch & Learn series with Joseph from Australian Catholic University, and what a fantastic start it was! A big turnout of students gained valuable insights into everything ACU has to offer as they begin thinking about life after school. From exploring campuses and student life, to unpacking study options, scholarships, and pathway programs - including ACU Gurantee Early Entry and All Points To Teaching - students walked away with a clearer picture of what their future could look like. Joseph also highlighted ACU’s strong graduate employability, innovative programs like the business incubator, and the vibrant campus culture filled with events, clubs, sport and societies. A huge thank you to Joseph and ACU for such an engaging and informative session!

Our College ANZAC service was carefully prepared by Elective History students who did a wonderful job in helping our community honour Australia's military personnel, past and present. Each Homeroom group acknowledged one chosen individual and create rows of poppies, reflecting Flanders Fields. Army Cadet Jasmine R proudly filled the role of flag bearer, and even created a floral wreath of crocheted poppies to add a special touch to our ceremony. Lest We Forget.
