Year 12 students preparing for the show
Students at Caroline Chisholm College, Glenmore Park launched their radio show, Chit Chat recently, broadcasting their own program content live from the school’s studio.
The Chit Chat features news, entertainment and music with comical segments and local interviews designed to build a sense of community spirit at the College.
College Principal Mary Leask, said the live show runs for 20 minutes is presented by the students and the podcast is shared to students online.
‘The studio is very modest using basic software and technology but it provides a powerful learning experience for the students in media and communications,’ said Mary.
‘Students generate the content, select the playlist for the station, present the segments and write material for a target audience,’ she said. ‘We have also been very fortunate to have the generous support and industry expertise of one of our parents, Darren McErlain.’
Year 12 student Lauren Bozic said program highlights such as the secret sound competition to identify teacher’s footsteps and a tongue-in-cheek corridor traffic report makes great radio.
‘Our ideas are often concerned with local-based content for our College, with an entertaining spin,’ said Lauren.
‘This project has taught us the art of speaking clearly, creative writing for radio and the social responsibility in journalism of checking facts,’ she said.
The radio show is available as a podcast online.

We were thrilled to welcome Annie Harrison, Head of Direct Lending at Ubank — Australia’s first homegrown digital bank — to our Year 11 Work Studies class today. Annie delivered an engaging and insightful session, sharing her deep expertise on: investment and lending, the power of financial planning and goal setting, how to avoid scams and practical tips to boost financial literacy. Annie's insights perfectly complemented their Personal Finance unit and couldn’t have come at a better time. Her real-world insights brought the curriculum to life and gave students valuable tools for managing their money in the workplace and beyond. Good Friday Walk an Amazing Feat of Faith

Year 11 English Studies joined with kindergarten students from Bethany Primary School to celebrate National Simultaneous Storytime. The English Studies students designed a range of activities appropriate for a young audience based on The Truck Cat by Deborah Frenkel. This morning kindergarten sat enthralled as our students read the book and engaged in lively discussions concerning the ideas and values expressed in the text. Year 10 took a deep dive into careers and pathways at the Greater Western Sydney Careers Market at Cambridge Park this week. This was a valuable and timely chance for students to start thinking about their post-school pathways, especially as they prepare to make subject selections for Years 11 and 12. With hundreds of post-school options on display — from employment and traineeships to apprenticeships, university, TAFE, private colleges and more — students had a fantastic opportunity to ask questions, gather resources, and get inspired about their futures. The event brought together a wide range of experts including universities, training organisations, apprenticeship centres, professional associations and employers — all under the one roof.
