Graduates return to inspire next generation of women

Year 12 students at Caroline Chisholm College had full hearts and full bellies after the annual Careers High Tea.

The school welcomed back six alumnae from the Classes of 2000-2022 to act as role models and mentors for the younger generation.

Partnerships and Pathways Coach at the Glenmore Park all-girls school Adam MacNamara said they're very fortunate to have a strong network of former students who are willing to come back and share their stories.

"We call it the sisterhood," MacNamara said.

"Students from the past coming back to guide and mentor our current students who will then go on to pursue their own careers and pathways.

"I think there's a lovely synergy and connection there across the different graduates and generations."

The panelists included ABC News reporter Chantelle Al-Khouri, interior designer and business owner Blaire Marchand, exercise physiologist Isabella La Malfa, general manager of Clinique and Aveda Corinne Duffy, nurse Alana Blowers, and sales associate at Ray White Ava Musumeci.

Year 12 student Amy Jarukrut aspires to join the Australian Defence Force or go into psychology or criminology, and she said it was encouraging to hear from women who graduated before her even though they went down different career paths.

"Even though it didn't line up with my future, it allowed me to get some inspiration on how I should get there," Jarukrut said.

The student said her favourite speaker was Blacktown Hospital nurse Alana Blowers.

"I really enjoyed listening to her because I want to do something with psychology," Jarukrut explained.

"I feel like that was a really nice way to get to know what a nurse life would be like."

The idea of a high tea came about because the school wanted to create a fun and classy event that suited the students.

"Last year we did a breakfast and this year we thought we'd give it another little twist and call it a high tea," MacNamara said.

We’re proud to share that five Chisholm students, including Matilda (pictured), were selected to attend the Early Childhood Education Futures 2025 program. Matilda reflected on how the program helped deepen her understanding of childcare practices and child development milestones. The day featured engaging, hands-on learning experiences such as sensory play, storytelling, and a valuable panel discussion with industry experts. A sincere thank you to Jared Wilson from NSW Department of Education's Regional Industry Education Partnerships (RIEP) for coordinating our participation in such a meaningful and insightful event.

Our highly popular Discover the UNIverse series continues this week with an information-packed showcase presented by Lucy from the Charles Sturt University Student Future Engagement Team. There’s truly something for everyone at CSU with campuses in Sydney and across regional NSW and our students got a real taste of what uni life is like - from exploring the wide range of degrees and entry pathways, to discovering campus life, support services, scholarships and the Charles Sturt Advantage early offer program. Lucy also highlighted the benefits of studying regionally and even further afield through Charles Sturt Global, as well as gaining hands-on experience through internships and practical learning. Thank you for sharing your time and passion for CSU with Caroline Chisholm College, Lucy, and well done Sophie on winning the Frank Green prize, donated by CSU! @Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese

In our second game of the Thursday Representative Sport competition, the Caroline Chisholm U16s nine-a-side rugby league team faced St Columba's College. After a strong start, we jumped out to a ten-point lead and were poised to score in the corner when an error led to a 90-metre try by the opposition, resulting in a halftime score of 10 to 6. The second half showcased the team’s outstanding defense, highlighted by several crunching tackles that kept the opposition at bay. Three additional tries sealed an impressive 22 to 6 victory. Every player is to be commended for their strong contribution, with special mentions to Harlow, Chelsey, and Imogen for their dynamic and determined runs throughout the game.

Our Junior and Intermediate Soccer Teams kicked off their first games of the season last week during Thursday sport. The girls brought energy, teamwork, and school spirit to the field! ⚽ Our Junior team had a strong start with a 1-1 draw against Xavier. ⚽ The Intermediate team put in a great effort but unfortunately came away with a loss. A big thank you to our coaches Amelia W, Annabelle T and Naomi C and to all the families who came out to cheer and support the girls — your encouragement means a lot!
