At Caroline Chisholm College students are offered opportunities to extend themselves both within and outside formal classes.
We create an environment which allows students to achieve and extend themselves in all areas of their learning.
In classes, students may be offered alternative activities designed to extend and enrich their understanding of a particular subject within the classroom, as appropriate to their needs.
Additionally, we have a teacher whose role it is to work with gifted students. These students are invited to negotiate with the teacher to co-construct projects and learning experiences which will benefit them. Often, these projects will be longer term and will have a cross-curriculum focus. Students will also negotiate appropriate ways of presenting their work. Students involved in these enrichment activities outside class will also be able to negotiate, with the assistance of the enrichment teacher, the possibility of the enrichment activities replacing other class activities to demonstrate their achievement of learning outcomes in those subjects.
