PDSSSC Netball Gala Day

04 Aug 2014

Intermediate Team
Intermediate Team

On Tuesday 22nd July, Caroline Chisholm entered three teams to compete in the PDSSSC Netball Gala Day held at Jamison Park.

Special congratulations to the Intermediate and Senior teams, who were undefeated and finished first place in their pools. Both teams then went on to win the grand final which is a great achievement for the college.

Thank you to the umpires of the day for volunteering their time, Emily Smith (Year 11), Sorrene Thompson (Year 10) and Amy Di Cristoforo (Year 9).

All students are commended for their impeccable sportsmanship, proudly representing the college. The girls are congratulated for their talent and efforts, as well as notable teamwork.

On behalf of the players and umpires I would like to thank our coaches, Mrs McCauley, Ms Burke and in particular Ms Camilleri. Without the organisation of Ms Camilleri, in the lead up to the carnival, the day would not have gone ahead.

Also a special congratulations to the Junior team who came first in their division at the New South Wales Netball Cup last term.

As we near the final turn in our 'cosmic careers journey' (!) we made a fascinating stop at the University of New South Wales for an engaging conversation with Myles and Malini from the Future Students team. With campuses in Kensington, Canberra and the artistic hub of Paddington, UNSW offers an incredible range of courses—from design and architecture to engineering, business and beyond. Students explored the wide variety of degrees and double degrees, learned about UNSW’s strong graduate employability, and discovered key info on scholarships, HSC Plus and other adjustment factors, portfolio entry and the UNSW Gateway Program. Myles and Malini also gave us a glimpse into vibrant campus life beyond the books —featuring UNSW's countless clubs, societies, volunteering opportunities, sports and student support services. A huge thanks to Myles and Malini for showing us the exciting world of UNSW! Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese

When we think about jobs, we often define people by what they do, not who they are. But most of us only know a small slice of the job world—and surprisingly, around half of all teens aim for just 1% of all careers. Why? Simply because they don’t know what else is out there. That’s why our students in Years 7–9 have been exploring the CADI Career Clusters Quiz during their wellbeing lessons this week, with thanks to our amazing partners Study Work Grow. Career Clusters offer a fresh way to think about work—by grouping jobs based on shared skills, strengths and interests, not just job titles or industries. It was fantastic to see our students begin to articulate their strengths and see new possibilities for their futures. Based on the Career Cluster results from our school over the last 12 months - not surprisingly, for such a caring community always willing to help others - our strongest Cluster by far is Guardian! This work also helps pave the way for more meaningful conversations with our Pathways Coaches. Years 10–12 will complete the quiz next term—we can’t wait to see where it leads! We’re proud to share that five Chisholm students, including Matilda (pictured), were selected to attend the Early Childhood Education Futures 2025 program. Matilda reflected on how the program helped deepen her understanding of childcare practices and child development milestones. The day featured engaging, hands-on learning experiences such as sensory play, storytelling, and a valuable panel discussion with industry experts. A sincere thank you to Jared Wilson from NSW Department of Education's Regional Industry Education Partnerships (RIEP) for coordinating our participation in such a meaningful and insightful event.
